Project Back Up Foundation
What is Project BackUp?
Many communities do not realize the family treasures they possess, and how important it is to pass those items down to future generations. Project Backup Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging people to take pride in their history by digitally preserving their history, or “Backing up” their family’s physical material onto a digital format. The benefits to this are abundant. Loved ones will be able to give pictures to everyone in the family. Individuals will be able to pass down family memories without giving away hard copies. Our philosophy is that the more copies we create, the more access and insurance we have for our historical preservation.
Project Backup Foundation seeks to advocate, educate, and explore new ways to preserve photos and documents for families and organizations.
Vision of Project Backup
Our vision is to provide the means for individuals to be able preserve their family memoirs, and to make sure every physical memory has a digital copy.
Goals for Project Backup
Project Back Up’s goals are to produce workshops on scanning and creating metadata, conducting research on best practices for digitization, and developing new ways to produce digital collections. We also desire to partner with leading institutions and organizations that will further our mission.
